Overview
I was offered a six-month contract at Skipton Building Society as an Email Designer & Developer, working alongside the resident email developer to support the delivery of high-impact marketing campaigns.
As a subject matter expert, I collaborated closely with members of the marketing department on a daily basis to produce time-critical email communications. This involved advising on best practices, ensuring brand consistency, and aligning technical execution with strategic campaign goals.
The role was fast-paced and varied, requiring me to build, test, and hand off responsive HTML emails across multiple financial product lines. Campaigns ranged in complexity—from simple product updates to highly segmented customer journeys requiring advanced personalization and dynamic content.


Outcome
My time at Skipton was highly successful. Due to the impact of my work and ability to deliver at pace without compromising quality, my contract was extended by an additional three months. I was subsequently offered a new opportunity at another company, but a year later, Skipton invited me to return for a second engagement—this time on a six-month contract that was eventually extended to a two-year fixed-term contract.
Throughout both engagements, I was trusted to independently design, build, test, and deploy emails of varying complexity while maintaining full alignment with brand and regulatory standards. My ability to collaborate across departments, adapt quickly to evolving campaign requirements, and deliver robust, cross-client compatible email templates was instrumental in supporting the success of the bank’s marketing operations.
